Nestled above the sparkling Monterey Bay, the Capitola Cliff House is more than just a vacation rental—it’s a love letter to one of California’s most charming coastal towns. Owned by local Leslie Nielsen, this beautifully remodeled home on Cliff Drive offers guests front-row seats to sweeping ocean views and quick strolls to the heart of Capitola Village.

We caught up with Leslie to hear more about her connection to the area, what makes Capitola so special, and why guests keep coming back to experience her seaside sanctuary.

Sharing the Magic of Capitola

Leslie grew up just a short drive away in the Santa Cruz Mountains and has long held fond memories of beach days in Capitola with her dad, flying kites along the shore. That deep-rooted love for the town eventually turned into a passion project: four years ago, she began renting her beachfront home to visitors wanting to soak up the vibrant local life. “I love the association with other business owners in town,” Leslie shares. “It’s a group of people who truly want to share this gem we call home with the visitors we rely on for success.”

The name “Capitola Cliff House” may seem straightforward, but it carries a touch of nostalgia. Located on Cliff Drive and inspired by the iconic Cliff House in San Francisco—home to childhood memories and the legendary Laughing Sal—Leslie wanted a name that was easy to remember and captured both the location and the vibe.

Why Guests Keep Coming Back

Visitors are drawn to the Capitola Cliff House for one main reason: the view. With panoramic vistas of the Monterey Bay, the Wharf, and rolling waves, it’s hard to beat. But it’s not just the scenery that leaves a lasting impression.

“The house is a beautifully remodeled 3-bedroom, 2-bath home with really comfortable beds and all the amenities,” Leslie says. “Being right on the ocean is a memorable experience.”

Guests also love the unbeatable walkability. Whether it’s a quick trip to grab coffee, a stroll along the beach, or a meander into the village for food, drinks, and shopping, everything is just steps away.

Living The Capitola Life

When asked what makes Capitola such a special place to eat, shop, play, and stay, Leslie doesn’t hold back. “Capitola is such a unique seaside location,” she says. “The Venetian hotel, the wharf, the range of shops—from fine art to fun gifts and great fashion—it’s all right there. And the Carnitas burrito at Mijo’s makes me very happy!”

As for her favorite thing to do? “Walking!” Leslie laughs. “On the beach, to get coffee and bakery goods, to Pleasure Point to watch the surfers, and of course, to the wine bar.”

A Coastal Retreat

The Capitola Cliff House isn’t just a place to stay—it’s a place to connect with the heart of the Central Coast. Whether you’re sipping coffee on the deck, exploring the vibrant village, or just relaxing with the sound of waves outside your window, Leslie’s home offers an unforgettable slice of Capitola charm.

Looking for your next beach escape? The Capitola Cliff House might just be the perfect spot to experience everything this coastal town has to offer—from spectacular views to sweet seaside strolls.
