Nestled just steps from the beach, Latta Jewelry has been a beloved part of Capitola Village since 1976. Today, owner and artisan Atticus Latta continues the family legacy, creating stunning, custom pieces that reflect both skill and soul.

A Deep-Rooted Love for Capitola

Doing business in Capitola is a dream for Atticus and his team. “We’re all a small community down here,” he says. “We love being so close to the beach and having such a beautiful place to walk around on breaks and weekends. Plus, there are always fun events happening — there’s always something going on!”

That tight-knit, vibrant atmosphere is part of what makes Capitola so special — not just for locals, but for visitors who come to shop, eat, play, and stay. “Everything you might need is within these two blocks — beach, food, shops, and fun events,” Atticus shares.

A Family Legacy Since 1976

Latta Jewelry’s roots run deep. It was Atticus’s father who first opened the storefront nearly five decades ago. “He grew up around here, so it had always been an obvious choice,” Atticus explains. “We’re so happy he set up shop here early on.”

The name “Latta” is simple yet powerful — it’s their family name, and it stands for craftsmanship, quality, and a personal touch.

Handmade Treasures Like No Other

Latta Jewelry has built a loyal following among Santa Cruz locals and beyond. Customers come specifically for their one-of-a-kind custom pieces. Each creation is handmade, start to finish, right in the shop.

“We have a huge selection of settings and gemstones,” Atticus says, “but we also love using customer gemstones and resetting old treasures.” Collaborating with clients to design meaningful new pieces — often future heirlooms — is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.

Living the Capitola Life

When he’s not crafting jewelry, you’ll often find Atticus and his family enjoying the best of Capitola Village. “It’s our second home,” he says. “We love beach days, grabbing coffee and snacks at La Marea in the morning, and walking around town. We also always make a point to explore Dinosaur Beach during low tide to check out the tide pools!”

For Atticus Latta, Capitola isn’t just where he works — it’s where he lives, plays, and finds inspiration every day.
