Outstanding In The Field @ Capitola Wharf

HOST: Monterey Bay Fisheries Trust
The historic Capitola Wharf broke in half in the huge waves of winter 2023. The pier is now reopened, repaired, and revived with a new deck and pilings. We will celebrate the transformation with a long table feast featuring the farmers of Santa Cruz County, the fisherfolk of Monterey Bay, and staff from the Monterey Bay Fisheries Trust. This unique nonprofit started a Community Seafood Program, and works to ensure sustainable fisheries, resilient waterfront communities and a healthy ocean ecosystem in this region.
This is founder Jim Denevan’s hometown; the family house is on Pleasure Point, about a mile west, and brother Bill’s organic orchard is just five miles away. Jim will head up the kitchen. Deep local connections bring a plethora of choice ingredients.
This event is in collaboration with the Monterey Bay Fisheries Trust and the Capitola Village and Wharf Business Improvement Area.
