Tony’s story with Avenue Cafe began in 2020, though it wasn’t always a Capitola venture. “I was offered Avenue Cafe #2 in Scotts Valley first,” he explains. “That location has since closed, but then I was offered the Capitola spot—and it felt like the right move.”
That decision brought him into the heart of the seaside community, where the ocean breeze and small-town charm serve up a perfect setting for good food and great company.
And while Tony didn’t choose the name Avenue Cafe—it came with the business—he’s made it his own. The name stayed, but the passion, dedication, and personal touches he brings to the restaurant are what truly make it shine.

It’s not just the customers that make Capitola special. “The beautiful beach and Village, the shops around me—those all add to the charm of the village,” Tony says. And when he’s not working hard in the kitchen, you can often find him walking around town. “I love to walk around the Village, beach, and esplanade,” he adds. “I’ve really enjoyed owning this restaurant.”
